Based on my personal experience, it’s a legit platform that pays real money for participating in surveys—enough to help cover small expenses like gas, your phone bill, or internet costs. The catch? You’ll need a PayPal account to receive your earnings.
My Personal Experience Using Prolific
I discovered Prolific while looking for a side hustle that didn’t require extensive effort or commitment. After signing up and verifying my PayPal account, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the platform is to use.
Here’s what I’ve found:
- Earnings: While it won’t make you rich, the pay is fair, and I’ve earned enough to fill my gas tank or pay small bills.
- Variety: Surveys vary in length and topics, from psychology studies to consumer behavior experiments.
- Transparency: You see the payment amount and time estimate upfront before deciding to participate in a study.
- Payouts: All payments are processed through PayPal, so having an account is a must.
How to Get Started on Prolific
- Sign Up: Visit Prolific’s website and create an account. We recommend that you use a dedicated 'application' email address as opposed to your personal email address. Apply the dedicated email address to your PayPal account as well. Then link the dedicated email to your PayPal account.
- Complete Your Profile: Fill out your demographic information. This step helps you qualify for more studies. When you see no studies available, answer more questions about yourself to see more available studies.
- Check for Studies: Regularly log in to see available studies. They fill up quickly, so act fast! Some studies pay really well. But if you're late, then you won't be able to participate.
- Participate: Complete studies honestly and thoughtfully. It's better to pay attention and give your unique answers.
- Cash Out: Once you reach the payout threshold of $6.00, transfer your earnings to your PayPal account. New members can only cash out once every three days. After a while of actively participating you can get paid every day if preferred.
Is Prolific Worth Your Time?
If you’re looking for a way to make a little extra money without a huge time commitment, Prolific is worth considering. It’s not going to replace your primary source of income, but for me, it’s been a reliable way to pay for small expenses such as filling up the gas tank or paying your internet or phone bill. To my amazement it actually paid out!
I usually just visit Prolific in the morning with a cup of coffee and maybe spend an hour or two taking various surveys. and after a few days you can get paid directly to your paypal account.
